New baby? It may be time for a new nursing pillow! Boppy® Nursing Pillows are made to last with high quality materials. But over time, the fluff in the Original Boppy® Nursing Pillow may slowly compact. If your Original Boppy® Nursing Pillow feels more flat than fluffy, it is time to treat yourself to a new one.

The NEW Boppy® Nursing Pillow and Boppy Uplift™ Nursing Pillow are filled with a higher volume of recycled polyester fiber fill, so there’s little chance of them going flat over time. However, because they are not machine washable, you may find they need to be replaced after a few years, similar to your mattress.

We take great care in the quality of our products. The fabric and filling in Boppy® Nursing Pillows (and pillow covers) are exempt from California Bureau of Home Furnishings flammability standards and have never contained harmful flameretardant chemicals.

The Original Nursing Pillow Bare Naked® Pillow insert is filled with virgin polyester fiberfill and is upholstered in fabric that is 90% polyester and 10% cotton. The New Boppy® Nursing Pillow and Boppy Uplift™ Nursing Pillow are filled with earthfriendly recycled polyester fiberfill and are wrapped in a water-repellant protective liner made of 80% polyester and 20% cotton.

What your Boppy® Nursing Pillow wears on the outside is up to you! Boppy® offers easy-zip pillow covers in many beautiful prints and designs for the Boppy Uplift™, Original Nursing Pillow and New Nursing Pillow, made from soft cotton blends, snuggly micro-fiber or 100% organic cotton.

At this time, we don’t offer a Boppy® Nursing Pillow specifically for twins. Both the Original Nursing Pillow and the NEW Boppy® Nursing Pillow may be used to feed both newborn babies at once in the ‘football hold’ until they outgrow it.

The manufacturing process for Boppy® Products begins in China. In an effort to reduce our carbon footprint Boppy® products are fulfilled, packaged and shipped from USA factories.

Our new nursing pillow has a wider opening than our original pillow, with arms set apart rather than wrapping around in a closed “C” shape. This allows it to be more body inclusive and fit more body shapes comfortably. The new pillow is also firmer with a higher loft, so baby is lifted higher. This makes it easier to latch for breastfeeding without any hunching over. The increased density from the high volume of recycled fiber fill means your new Boppy® nursing pillow will last even longer. The cover is still removeable and machine washable like our Original nursing pillow, while the new pillow itself is wrapped in a water-repellant protective liner and is spot-clean only.

In addition, the New Boppy® Nursing Pillow and Boppy® Uplift Nursing Pillow are the first nursing pillows to be JPMA Certified, which signifies that they have been tested to all federal and state regulations, the voluntary ASTM standard, and other major retailer requirements at an independent, CPSC-accredited laboratory.

The Consumer Products Safety Commission worked closely with Boppy and experts in the baby products industry to create a new set of federal standards for all nursing pillows. Starting in April of 2025, all products labeled as “nursing pillows” need to be manufactured to follow the standards listed in 16 CFR 1242 Safety Standard for Nursing Pillows as of April 23, 2025. Our original Boppy® Nursing Pillows manufactured prior to April 2025 will continue to be sold and are a great option for those looking for that classic pillow support to nurse or bottle feed your baby. No. The New Boppy® Nursing pillow is not compatible with Original Boppy® Nursing Pillow covers. We have several different prints to choose from for the New Boppy® Nursing Pillow and separate covers are being added to our catalog all the time! Though Original Boppy® Nursing Pillow covers do not fit the New Boppy® Nursing Pillow, we have made several of your favorite original fashions available in the New Boppy® Nursing Pillow shape.

No. All nursing pillows should only be used for feeding. Babies should never be placed on nursing pillows for propping, sitting or tummy time.
