Overview

The Paralegal reports to the CEO and is responsible for managing and protecting the company’s intellectual property (IP) assets and assisting with a wide variety of legal matters. Your organization, attention to detail, strong communication skills, effective project management and hands-on work style will further drive our brand growth and the value of the Boppy brand. You will collaborate with our Administrative, Operations, Marketing, Sales and Creative Teams. You must be a leader, team player, comfortable working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. You will lead or participate in special projects as assigned.

Responsibilities

Managing and Protecting the Company’s IP & Miscellaneous Legal Matters:

You will be responsible for the management of the company’s trademarks, patents and copyright assets, as well as other miscellaneous legal matters. This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Preparing, filing, prosecuting, and maintaining the company’s U.S. trademarks, copyright registrations and domain name registrations.
  • Working closely with and providing instructions to outside legal counsel on foreign trademarks, U.S. and foreign patents, and copyrights.
  • Handling a variety of IP policing/infringement issues
  • Conducting trademark and patent research, including trademark availability and clearance searches related to new products.
  • Assisting the international Boppy brand and legal teams as needed.
  • Reviewing packaging and marketing materials to provide proper trademark markings and copyright information, and general proofreading as needed.
  • Collaborating with outside legal counsel on a variety of contracts and legal documents.
  • Reviewing and formulating legal strategies with regard to IP and general contract matters.
  • Special Projects as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of paralegal experience, with specialized knowledge of IP legal issues and an ability to manage an IP portfolio. In addition, some knowledge of and experience in basic contract law is a plus.
  • Highly organized, detail oriented.
  • Ability to read patents and summarize for product development team.
  • Ability to collaborate with in-house teams and outside legal counsel effectively and efficiently.
  • An analytical thinker, skilled researcher, and problem-solver.
  • Experience with drafting legal documents such as contracts and preparing and filing documents.
  • Organizing and archiving the documents
  • Keeping track of changes in legal framework and providing timely updates on these changes.

Global Sourcing Manager

Global Sourcing Manager

Salary: $80,000 - $100,000

Overview

The Global Sourcing Manager will report to the VP Supply Chain & IT and is responsible for all overseas sourcing functions including identifying, qualifying, and managing overseas third-party suppliers, balancing supplier business, setting priorities, developing strategies for procuring material and services. This position works closely with internal Supply Chain, Product Development and Quality teams. Candidates are also expected to have a working knowledge of current business management concepts and systems, including supply-chain practices, lean manufacturing concepts and relationship management.

In this hands-on role responsibilities include:

  • Manage the company’s supply portfolio ensuring transparency of spending.
  • Generate and implement efficient sourcing and supplier management strategies
  • Analyze and calculate costs of procurement and suggest methods to decrease total landed cost of goods.
  • Apply effective negotiation strategies and secure pricing and procurement agreements in the best interests of The Boppy Company.
  • Lead the supplier selection process. Source potential suppliers, manage the RFQ process, evaluate results and provide recommendations.
  • Research and anticipate shifts in the marketplace, including commodity costs and negotiating power of suppliers.
  • Perform cost and scenario modeling, analysis, and benchmarking.
  • Identify risks, recommend, and implement risk mitigation strategies.
  • Discover and partner with trustworthy vendors and suppliers.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to develop cost and lead time reduction improvements.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Proficient in Mandarin and English.
  • 5 years international sourcing experience in consumer goods.
  • Textile sourcing experience is beneficial.
  • Successful negotiator.
  • Proven work experience as a sourcing manager or procurement manager.
  • Familiarity with sourcing and vendor management and relevant software.
  • Understanding of market dynamics and sound business judgement.
  • Strong project management and leadership skills.
  • Ability to negotiate and sustain networking relationships.
  • Comfortable collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data.
  • Solid judgement with ability to make good decisions.
  • In-depth PC competency in Microsoft-Office (primarily PowerPoint, Excel, Word).
  • Strong self-motivation.
