Support Moms and Babies During Breastfeeding Awareness Month with Boppy

August 21, 2018

GOLDEN, Colo. (Aug. 21, 2018)– This month is National Breastfeeding Awareness Month and The Boppy Company is in the business of Support for All Momkind®! Success in breastfeeding can begin during pregnancy. Boppy has worked with Lamaze International to put together a Breastfeeding Checklist for New Moms that includes these helpful hints, among several others:

  • Take a breastfeeding class.
  • Include breastfeeding in your birth plan and discuss this with your healthcare professional.
  • Nurse your baby within the first hour after birth. Consider bringing in your own nursing pillow to help you with positioning and support.
  • Partners can help you stay hydrated and bring you snacks and supplies when you are nursing.
  • Let your baby finish the first breast before offering the other.
  • Wear your baby in a sling or other soft baby carrier as much as possible.
  • Nurse your baby whenever he or she shows signs of hunger. If you are on the go, a nursing cover may offer you and baby privacy when needed.

The award-winning Boppy® Feeding & Infant Support Pillow is an essential tool for nursing moms and is recommended by family, friends and doctors alike. Anna Arcaro, M.D., IBCLC says: “As a pediatrician and a lactation consultant, this is by far the product I recommend the most, especially to breastfeeding mothers.” As suggested in the Breastfeeding Checklist for New Moms by Lamaze and Boppy, expectant moms should include their Boppy® Feeding and Infant Support Pillow in their hospital bag and/or make sure that their hospital or birthing center has a Boppy® HC Pillow on hand. Research suggests that 88.4% of Moms who used the Boppy® HC Pillow left the hospital successfully breastfeeding compared to 62.3% who used bed pillows.

The Boppy® Pillow is the original pioneer and trusted leader in the feeding and support pillow category.  Its versatile design makes it the perfect product for supporting baby during feeding, propping, tummy time and sitting. With all these uses, it continues to serve as an indispensable product for mom and baby throughout baby’s development. The innovative Miracle Middle® panel was designed to fit nearly all waists and the Boppy Pillow has a comfortable ergonomic design to ease strain on mom, and provide comfort and support for her newborn. Paired with a fashionable slipcover in an array of designs and fabrics, the Boppy Pillow can be dressed to fit any décor or personal style.
