Online Donation Program with Simple Click-to-Donate Campaign Runs May 1-14

GOLDEN, Colo. (May 1, 2012) – The Boppy Company, maker of the award-winning Boppy® Feeding and Infant Support Pillow, has partnered with Nurse-Family Partnership®, a national organization that helps improve the lives of low-income, first-time moms and their babies, to support at-risk moms through a uniqueMother’s Day Support Program that begins today. In honor of Mother’s Day, The Boppy Company is encouraging the public to help support new moms who are in need by simply visitingwww.Boppy.com/mothersdaysupport. For every click received between May 1st and May 14th, The Boppy Company will donate $1 toward a Boppy pillow to be gifted to moms who need it most. Last year, through a similar Mother’s Day Support Program, The Boppy Company donated 500 Boppy pillows to new moms across the country. This year, The Boppy Company is committed to donating more than 500 Boppy pillows to at-risk moms, equating to a monetary donation of more than $20,000.

“In honor of Mother’s Day, we are supporting moms who need it most,” said Nancy Bartley, CEO of The Boppy Company. “We are proud to partner with a meaningful organization like Nurse-Family Partnership on our Mother’s Day Support Program and provide Boppy pillows, voted the number one baby product for a record nine years, to new moms who are in need of extra support.”

Nurse-Family Partnership (NFP) is an innovative community health program that targets low-income, first-time mothers, many of whom are teen moms. The program’s goals are to improve pregnancy outcomes and health and development, as well as economic self-sufficiency for the family. NFP matches new moms with registered public health nurses who visit the moms in their homes more than 60 times over two-and-a-half years, helping new moms with everything from preventive health practices and parenting skills to life and education coaching.

“Nurse-Family Partnership serves moms living in poverty, helping them to have a healthy pregnancy and give their children a better start in life.” said Lauren Baker, NFP’s Chief Marketing and Communications Officer. “Our clients face tremendous challenges. The Boppy Company’s generous donation of Boppy pillows is a wonderful gift of support and comfort to hundreds of vulnerable moms coast to coast.”

The work that Nurse-Family Partnership does every day to help young women is more important now than ever. According to the most recent U.S. Census data, the number of women living in poverty rose by more than 800,000 women from 2009 to 2010, representing the highest increase in 17 years: 13.9% in 2009 to 14.5% in 2010. Also, importantly, between 2009 and 2010, the poverty rate increased for children under age 18 from 20.7 percent to 22.0 percent, also reaching a 17-year high. Since its inception, Nurse-Family Partnership has served 150,941 at-risk families and is currently working with over 22,000 families in 37 states across the country.

“NFP has so many first-time mom success stories that we are thankful for,” said Baker. “For example, Nely, from the outskirts of Philadelphia, was 14 years old when she found out she was pregnant. She was scared and in an abusive relationship. With support from her nurse, she blossomed into a confident mom, ending her abusive relationship and moving on to pursue a vocational technical program.”
