THE BOPPY COMPANY LAUNCHES PROGRAM TO DONATE $250,000

WORTH OF BOPPY® PILLOWS TO MOMS-IN-NEED

GOLDEN, Colo. (April 23, 2013)The Boppy Company, maker of the award-winning Boppy® Feeding and Infant Support Pillow, has partnered with Nurse-Family Partnership® (NFP), a national nonprofit organization that helps improve the lives of low-income, first-time moms and their babies, to support at-risk moms through The Boppy Effect™: Get One, Give One program.

As part of the program and in honor of Mother’s Day, for every Boppy® Slipcovered Pillow purchased at Babies“R”Us stores and Babiesrus.com during the month of May, The Boppy Company will donate a Boppy Slipcovered Pillow to NFP agencies, which will distribute them to moms-in-need. The Boppy Company has pledged to donate up to $250,000 worth of Boppy Slipcovered Pillows through the Get One, Give One program.

“Our team was so impacted by this program last year, that we have pledged to increase our total donation tenfold,” said Nancy Bartley, CEO of The Boppy Company. “We’re excited by the opportunity to leverage our distinctive retail partnership with Babies“R”Us and their network of stores across the country to provide more moms access to the Boppy Pillow and a way to interface with this wonderful charitable organization.”

To participate in The Boppy Effect: Get One, Give One program, consumers visit Babies“R”Us during the month of May and buy a Boppy Slipcovered Pillow. That’s the “get one” part. Then, The Boppy Company “gives one” Boppy Slipcovered Pillow to a mom-in-need through local agencies that deliver the Nurse-Family Partnership program. Consumers also can fill out a provided postcard to write a message of support to these new moms. The note can be anything from a simple poem to a piece of advice. It connects those giving, to those receiving and makes everyone happy – which is what “The Boppy Effect” is all about. Consumers can also participate in this program by making a monetary donation to Nurse-Family Partnership directly through the NFP national website to help grow NFP programs nationwide. Throughout the month of May, Babies“R”Us customers will also find a postcard in their Registry Gift Bags, which they can use to write a note of encouragement to an NFP mom, even if they do not purchase a Boppy Pillow.

Nurse-Family Partnership (NFP) is an innovative community health program that supports low-income, first-time mothers, many of whom are teen moms. NFP matches each new mom with a registered nurse who visits the mom in her home throughout pregnancy until her child’s second birthday. The nurse empowers each new mom to have a healthy pregnancy, improve her child’s health and development, and achieve economic self-sufficiency by setting goals to go back to school or pursue her career choice.

“Nurse-Family Partnership provides each new mom with a nurse to coach her to have a healthy pregnancy and give her the confidence to be a competent, strong mom.” said Lauren Baker, NFP’s Chief Marketing and Communications Officer. “Our clients face tremendous challenges. The Boppy Company’s generous donation of Boppy Pillows is a wonderful gift of support to thousands of vulnerable moms coast to coast.”

Based on over 35 years of proven research, Nurse-Family Partnership has produced significant outcomes including a 79% reduction in preterm delivery for women who smoke, 48% reduction in child abuse and neglect; and 56% reduction in emergency room visits for accidents and poisonings, among others. Since its inception, Nurse-Family Partnership has served 172,015 at-risk families and is currently working with close to 25,944 families in 42 states.
