Job description in brief: A highly visible supply chain role that will oversee demand planning as well as safety, quality and transportation. This hands-on position is responsible for developing and executing the forecasting, inventory analysis and purchasing functions that enable 100% on-time and on-budget delivery of all products that will allow the Sales Team to meet sales and service objectives. Collaboration with other members of the Supply Chain, Sales, Marketing, Creative, Finance and Customer Support teams is paramount to achieve these sales and service objectives.
Responsibilities
- Review current purchasing and forecasting analysis on weekly basis
- Effectively manage inventory to avoid being out of stock while staying within the COGS budget
- Proactively communicate to Operations team of anyat risk inventory items and ensure that Operations is aware of any changes to purchase order timing
- Place purchase orders with vendors timely to ensure inventory stocking needs are met and COGS budget is maintained while considering MOQs yet maximizing ocean contain capacities
- Manage inventory targets (including safety stock levels) that are approved by management
- Prepare, report, and communicate forecast and inventory measurements to management (forecast accuracy, inventory plan vs. targets)and make recommended adjustments to forecast and inventory targets based on changes in demand and market trends
- Analyze current purchasing and projection tools:
- Make recommendations and changes as necessary and within budget to ensure sales and inventory goals are met and COGS budgets are maintained
- Audit and review/challenge data, roll up data, make recommendations, determine purchasing amounts, develop reporting back to sales of projections accuracy
- Establish and utilize best methods (statistical models and software tools) in creating forecasts and respective inventory targets
- Evolve and maintain documentation and standard operating procedures for demand planning processes and systems
- Lead forecast, inventory planning and purchasing meeting with Operations, Sales, Finance and Supply Chain reviewing recommended sales forecasts and inventory goals
- Inspections, Quality and Safety:
- Maintain GCC on every purchase order
- Piece inspection complete within 5 business days of receipt
- Execute “reasonable testing program” per CPSIA guidelines
- Log all test reports/Certificates Of Compliance in database
- Track Asian factory inspections, ensure USA factory inspections are complete
- Process receivers and close purchase orders
- Track and report all open purchase orders including daily update in ERP system and follow up with vendor and internal customers
- Manage FOB orders including US Customs and documentation requirements
Qualifications
To perform this job successfully you must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.
- 5 year background in master scheduling, forecasting, inventory analysis, procurement and demand planning
- Strong knowledge of demand planning process within Consumer Packaged Goods industry preferred
- Experience using Microsoft Great Plains (preferred) or other ERP statistical software packages, advance knowledge of MRP systems preferred as well
- Knowledge of demand management/forecasting tools, forecasting processes in operations, sales, marketing, finance, manufacturing and supply chain issues
- Knowledge of key inventory performance metrics, turns, margin contributions, etc.
- Collaborative skills in resolving long and short positions in inventory.
- Bachelors degree
- Additional class work in Quality systems (Six Sigma or equivalent a plus)
